Woul a blu-ray player play 3D films with a 3D tv?

Bought a Panasonic 3D TV pack with free 3D player and gles.However Comet run out of stock of player and after a month long dispute,now Comet compensating us with a Panasonic cinema system blu-ray one.Store manager said it would not play 3D films as it's not 3D, customer service insist it will be fine. I'm confused. can you help?
